Frequently asked questions
When should I book my trial?
Its best to book your trial as soon as possible especially if your wedding is during the summer months and at least 4 weeks before your wedding day. However if your wedding day is sooner its still worth enquiring as your date may still be available.
How long should I allow for my hair and make-up trial?
Its best to allow about 2 hours for a make-up trial and 3-4 hours for a hair and make-up trial so you can try different looks and styles until you are 100% happy you have chosen the right look for you.
On the day allow 1 hour for make-up and 1 hour for hair . It may take less time than this but its always recommended to allow plenty of time so you can just sit back and relax!
It is helpful to have any accessories or hairpieces to hand on your trial so you can see how they look with your hair style. Please do not wash your hair on the morning of the trial or wedding day as freshly washed hair is difficult to style. Ideally its best to leave it 1-2 days but if your hair becomes greasy quickly wash it the night before. I will make a record of all products used once you are happy with the final result so I can recreate the exact look for you on your wedding day. Remember to wear a zip up top or something that is easy to take off on your wedding day so that your hair is not touched.
Will you come to me?
Yes, I am a freelance make-up artist and will travel to you for your trial and wherever you chose to get ready on the day. The trial, hair/and or make up on the day and travel expenses are included in the price quoted.
What should I expect at the trial?
For the first 20 minutes or so we will have a chat about your hair and make up expectations and look at any pictures you may have collected, the style of your dress, your wedding colour scheme etc which I will record on a consultation sheet as well as the wedding time, date and where you will be getting ready on the day. I will then access your skin and cleans, tone and moisturise your face to prepare it for your makeup. I will then apply your make up and/ or style your hair. I will give you a mirror so you can see how it looks as we go along.
When do you require payment?
A £50 deposit is taken at the trial (please see the terms and conditions page for more information) Payment can be made by cash, cheque ot bank transfer.
If paying by cheque this needs to be sent two weeks prior to the wedding date or one week if paying by bank transfer. If paying by cash please have this ready on the wedding day to settle before we start.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
I would ask that you let me know at least 4 weeks before your wedding via telephone and email. Cancellation with in the 4 weeks will incur the loss of your deposit plus a £50 cancellation fee. If you cancel with in 10 days of your wedding date you will be charged in full. Sending a signed booking form and deposit means that you accept these terms.
Are you insured?
Yes I am fully insured.
What if you are ill on my wedding day?
In the very unlikely event that I am so ill that I am unable to reach your home or venue on your wedding day I will do my best to find another fully qualified hair and make-up artist and pass on detailed information from your trial in order to recreate the same look for you. If I am unable to do this you will receive a full refund of your payed deposit. Please note this has never happened before.
What areas do you cover?
I am based in Norwich, Norfolk, but I cover the whole of Norfolk and Suffolk and am now taking on work from other areas such as London, Cambridgeshire and the home counties . Please see the price list page.
